Tinubu Urges Afreximbank to Boost Africa’s Industrialisation Drive

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the African Export-Import Bank Afreximbank to strengthen its efforts in mobilising Africa’s human, financial and natural resources to accelerate industrialisation and drive long-term economic transformation across the continent. Speaking on the importance of expanding Africa’s productive capacity, the President emphasized that sustainable economic growth depends on increasing local manufacturing, adding value to raw materials, and promoting intra African trade. He noted that greater investment in industrial development would create jobs, improve competitiveness, and reduce the continent’s dependence on exports of unprocessed commodities. Tinubu also highlighted the strategic role of Afreximbank in supporting infrastructure, financing businesses, and facilitating trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area AfCFTA. He encouraged the bank to continue partnering with governments and the private sector to unlock investment opportunities and strengthen regional value chains.

The President stressed that coordinated action among African nations, financial institutions, and development partners is essential to achieving inclusive economic growth. He said that leveraging the continent’s abundant resources effectively would help build more resilient economies and improve living standards for millions of Africans. His remarks reinforce Nigeria’s support for initiatives aimed at expanding industrial capacity, promoting regional integration, and fostering sustainable development across Africa.
