Renewed Hope Media Tour Inspects Infrastructure Projects in Imo State, Highlights Airport Expansion The Renewed Hope National Media Tour has arrived in Imo State as part of efforts to showcase federal and state government projects and provide Nigerians with first-hand insights into ongoing development initiatives across the South-East. The delegation, led by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Communications Team, inspected key infrastructure projects in the state, including the ongoing upgrade of the runway at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport. The airport project is expected to improve regional connectivity, strengthen logistics capacity and support economic activities in the South-East by enhancing the movement of goods and services. Speaking during the inspection, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, described the projects as evidence of collaboration between the Federal Government and the Imo State Government. Emelumba said the expansion of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport is aimed at transforming the facility into a major logistics and export hub for the region. He noted that the development includes plans for eight modern warehouses to support storage, cargo handling and trade operations.
According to the commissioner, the improved airport infrastructure is expected to boost agricultural exports, attract investment and create new opportunities for businesses across the South-East.
The Renewed Hope National Media Tour is designed to highlight ongoing government projects and initiatives across different parts of Nigeria, with organisers saying the programme will allow citizens to assess progress in infrastructure, economic development and public service delivery. The visit to Imo State forms part of the tour’s wider engagement across the South-East, focusing on projects aimed at improving connectivity, supporting commerce and strengthening regional development.
