President Tinubu Restates Government’s Commitment To Women, Children And Family Stability
President Tinubu Restates Government’s Commitment to Women, Children and Family Stability President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again emphasised that his administration remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering women, protecting children and strengthening family stability as central pillars of national development and social cohesion.
At a high-profile event in Abuja, where he launched the expanded Nigeria for Women Programme now scaled up to reach 25 million women nationwide the President reaffirmed that inclusive growth and family well-being are core objectives of his government’s social policy framework. Women at the centre, families at the heart”
Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the launch ceremony, stressed that no sustainable development can be achieved without placing women at the centre of national planning and uplifting families the fundamental units of society. “A nation that neglects its women and families places its future at risk,” he said, highlighting the importance of gender inclusion and social support. The Nigeria for Women Programme, originally implemented in select states, has been expanded under government policy to reach 25 million beneficiaries, encompassing financial inclusion, skills training, market access, and support platforms such as the digital Happy Woman App that connects women to services pivotal for economic participation.
The President also reiterated his administration’s focus on strengthening family unity and stability, noting that family resilience is essential for community safety, social harmony, and national productivity. This commitment aligns with broader goals such as combating violence against children and enhancing child protection systems championed by the Federal Government through multi-sectoral plans and policy reviews.
As part of these efforts, the government has rolled out national action plans against violence and abuse, strengthened awareness campaigns, and committed to enforcing child protection laws and systems that ensure every Nigerian child grows up in safe, secure and nurturing environments. Officials say this renewed focus combining economic empowerment, social inclusion, and protection policies is rooted in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The strategy, they explain, seeks not only to boost economic participation for women but also to ensure that children and families are supported through robust social systems.
