Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to preach at Lambeth Palace the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury on Thursday, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s historic state visit to the United Kingdom.

The visit, led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represents Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in nearly four decades, highlighting renewed diplomatic engagement between both nations. According to the official itinerary, the First Lady will deliver a sermon during a service at Lambeth Palace and engage with representatives of the Church of England. The visit underscores efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with key engagements involving meetings with King Charles III and Keir Starmer, alongside interactions with the Nigerian diaspora. Senator Tinubu, an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has been actively involved in faith-based initiatives and women’s empowerment programmes, both in Nigeria and internationally. President Tinubu and his delegation arrived in London ahead of a series of high-level engagements, including ceremonial receptions and bilateral discussions aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange. The state visit hosted at Windsor Castle is widely seen as a significant milestone in Nigeria–UK relations, reinforcing longstanding historical, economic, and cultural ties between both countries.
