According to the agency, enforcement operatives raided facilities located within the Trade Fair Complex and parts of Lagos Island following credible intelligence reports. The operation led to the seizure of counterfeit and adulterated alcoholic beverages valued at approximately ₦350 million. Authorities recovered over 1,800 cartons of fake alcoholic drinks, alongside plastic mixing tanks, improvised filtration equipment, empty branded bottles, corks, and packaging materials allegedly used to manufacture and distribute fake alcohol across the market. During a related operation on Lagos Island, one suspect connected to the production and retail distribution network was arrested, while all confiscated items were evacuated for regulatory action. NAFDAC warned that adulterated alcohol poses serious health dangers, including poisoning, organ damage, and possible death. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to prosecuting offenders and eliminating substandard products from circulation. Consumers were urged to buy beverages only from authorised outlets and report suspicious products or activities to NAFDAC offices nationwide.
