ICPC dismisses ₦50bn bribery video, says content AI-generated and false The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dismissed a viral video alleging a ₦50 billion bribery scandal, describing it as false, misleading, and partly generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
The anti-corruption agency also warned that it would take legal action against individuals or groups behind the disinformation campaign. In an official statement, the ICPC said the circulating video has no connection to the Commission’s investigations or records and does not reflect any ongoing case.
The agency explained that
- The images, names, and claims in the video were fabricated
- Some elements were AI-generated to mislead the public
- No ₦50 billion bribery case exists within ICPC records
It stressed that the content was designed to create confusion and damage institutional credibility. The Commission categorically stated that it is:
- Not investigating any ₦50 billion bribery allegation
- Not probing any Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), lawyer group, or judicial officer as suggested in the video
- Not handling any transaction or case linked to such claims
It described the allegations as entirely fictitious and without basis in reality. ICPC warned those responsible for creating and sharing the video to stop immediately, adding that The ICPC has firmly rejected claims of a ₦50 billion bribery scandal circulating online, labeling the video as fake and AI-generated disinformation, and has vowed to pursue legal action against those behind its creation and spread.
