Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has nominated Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor and forwarded his name to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, in line with Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, which empowers a governor to fill a deputy governorship vacancy.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has officially transmitted the nomination of Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo to the Kano State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation as Deputy Governor. The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, confirming that the nomination follows the constitutional requirement under Section 191(3) of the 1999 Constitution, which allows a governor to appoint a replacement when the office of deputy governor becomes vacant. The position became vacant following the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo, prompting consultations among key political stakeholders before the nomination was concluded.
