Alleged Murder Court Adjourns Trial of ‘Killaboi’ After Power Outage Disrupts Proceedings The trial of Benjamin Nnayereugo, popularly known as ‘Killaboi’, was on Thursday stalled after proceedings were disrupted by a power outage in court. The interruption occurred during the cross-examination stage, where the court had begun hearing key questions before electricity failure brought the session to an abrupt halt, preventing continuation of electronic evidence presentation. According to court proceedings, the matter could not proceed further as the outage affected the ability of counsel to display and rely on digital materials required for the defence and cross-examination. Following the disruption, the court adjourned the trial to May 21 for continuation of hearing. Killaboi is standing trial over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Augusta Onuwaghagbe, a case that has drawn significant public attention since 2023.

The Lagos High Court had earlier been hearing testimonies and cross-examinations in the case before Thursday’s unexpected technical setback. The court is expected to resume proceedings on the adjourned date once full technical conditions are restored.
