The demonstrators said the exercise was unfair and accused INEC of marginalising their ethnic group in the redistribution of polling units and creation of new wards within the constituency. Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the protesters called for what they described as a fair and transparent review of the delineation process, insisting that the current arrangement does not reflect equitable representation among communities in Warri Federal Constituency. The dispute centres on how electoral wards and polling units were structured following the exercise, which has been contested by different ethnic groups in the area. While the Itsekiri group has rejected the outcome, other groups within the constituency have reportedly expressed support for maintaining the current arrangement. During the protest, the demonstrators submitted their grievances to INEC and urged the commission to revisit the process in order to prevent further political tension in the area. The protest is the latest in a series of demonstrations linked to the Warri delineation issue, which has remained a major source of political disagreement in Delta State. INEC officials reportedly acknowledged receipt of the petition and assured protesters that the matter would be looked into. The commission has not yet announced any final decision on whether the delineation exercise will be reviewed or adjusted.
