Sanwo-Olu signs Lagos’ ₦4.4 trillion 2026 budget into law
Lagos, Nigeria Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially signed the ₦4.4 trillion Lagos State 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, pledging fiscal discipline, transparency and responsible implementation of what the state government describes as the “Budget of Shared Prosperity.”
The signing ceremony took place at the Lagos House, Alausa, following the passage of the budget by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The 2026 budget focuses on inclusive growth, infrastructure expansion and social development, with Sanwo-Olu assuring residents that spending priorities reflect the government’s commitment to improving living standards.
Total budget size: ₦4.4 trillion
Capital expenditure: prioritising roads, transport, housing and urban renewal Recurrent expenditure: covering salaries, healthcare, education and public services Governor Sanwo-Olu said the budget would: Accelerate major infrastructure projects across the state

“This budget is designed to deepen shared prosperity and ensure that every Lagosian feels the impact of governance,” the governor said
The governor commended the Lagos State House of Assembly for its cooperation and assured residents that funds would be prudently managed, with strict monitoring to ensure value for money.
Lawmakers, in turn, urged ministries, departments and agencies to align spending strictly with budgetary provisions and deliver measurable outcomes. Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to responsible governance, noting that Lagos must continue to balance ambitious development goals with fiscal sustainability amid economic pressures.
