ADC Demands Transparency on US–Nigeria Health MoU Amid Conflicting ReportsThe African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the federal government to urgently publish the full text of the US–Nigeria Health Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) amid growing concerns over conflicting reports and possible constitutional violations. In a statement, the party urged authorities to clarify the contents of the agreement, particularly any provisions that may introduce identity-based policies or obligations that could conflict with Nigeria’s constitution and existing laws.
ADC leaders warned that the lack of transparency surrounding the MoU has fuelled public suspicion and misinformation, stressing that international agreements affecting public health must be subjected to open scrutiny and legislative oversight. The party also called on the National Assembly to review the agreement to ensure it aligns with Nigeria’s sovereignty, legal framework, and national interests, adding that no external partnership should override constitutional protections or democratic processes.
The controversy comes amid heightened public debate over foreign-backed health initiatives and their long-term implications for governance, data protection, and national policy autonomy.
ADC said full disclosure of the agreement would help restore public confidence and allow Nigerians to make informed judgments about its potential impact.
