Police nab four suspected cultists in Ogun, recover stolen iPhone after violent attack Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the state following an alleged armed robbery and violent assault incident that left a victim injured and robbed of his mobile phone. According to the police, the suspects were apprehended after a distress report was filed at the Ilaro Divisional Headquarters on April 16, 2026, prompting swift investigative and tactical response by officers. The victim reportedly told authorities that at about 1:00 p.m. on the said day, one Samson John and six accomplices stormed his residence, where they violently assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and forcibly dispossessed him of his iPhone 14 Pro Max. Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that the suspects were tracked and arrested following intelligence-led operations, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the group.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Samson John, Olufowora Michael, Odeh Samuel Ejeh, and Olajide Jeremiah. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are linked to cult related activities in the area, with authorities noting that the case also involves elements of armed robbery and conspiracy.

The Command assured residents that operations are ongoing to dismantle criminal networks in the state, particularly those linked to cultism and violent street crimes. The police further stated that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations, while reinforcing its commitment to maintaining peace and security across Ogun State.
