President Tinubu Assents to 2026 Appropriation Bill, Approves Extension of 2025 Budget Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law the 2026 Appropriation Bill while also approving the extension of the 2025 national budget implementation period, marking a significant fiscal step aimed at sustaining government projects and economic reforms. The presidency confirmed that the signing aligns with the administration’s commitment to maintaining budget continuity, ensuring ongoing capital projects and government programmes are not disrupted during the transition into the new fiscal cycle. According to officials at the State House, the extension of the 2025 budget will allow Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) additional time to fully implement already approved projects, particularly major infrastructure and social investment initiatives still underway across the country.The newly assented 2026 Appropriation Act is expected to prioritise economic recovery, infrastructure expansion, security enhancement, job creation, and social welfare programmes under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Government sources noted that the approval reflects coordination between the executive and the National Assembly to guarantee fiscal stability, improve public spending efficiency, and accelerate national development goals.
