Osimhen Intervenes as Galatasaray Push to Sign Paul Onuachu

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly stepped into Galatasaray’s efforts to sign fellow Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu, as the Turkish champions intensify their pursuit of the Trabzonspor attacker. Reports from Turkey indicate that Osimhen has used his relationship with Onuachu to encourage the towering striker to consider a move to Galatasaray, with the Istanbul club searching for a major attacking reinforcement following changes in their forward line.

Galatasaray have identified Onuachu as one of their preferred targets and are preparing to compete for his signature, despite strong interest from city rivals Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe are reported to have submitted a proposal worth €20 million plus winger Oğuz Aydın for the Nigerian striker, but Trabzonspor rejected the offer and are believed to be demanding a higher cash fee for their prized forward. Onuachu enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Trabzonspor, finishing as one of the Turkish Süper Lig’s leading scorers after recording 22 goals in 30 league appearances. The 31 year-old Nigeria international, who returned permanently to Trabzonspor after his previous loan spell, remains under contract with the club until 2028, giving the Turkish side a strong negotiating position. Osimhen’s reported involvement is not the first time the Galatasaray forward has helped the club attract Nigerian talent. The Napoli record signing has previously been linked with efforts to convince compatriots to consider moves to the Istanbul giants.

However, Onuachu has recently indicated his attachment to Trabzonspor, saying he feels a strong connection with the club and the city after a successful spell in Turkey. With Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe both showing interest, Onuachu’s future has emerged as one of the major transfer stories involving Nigerian players this summer.
